CODA is a site-specific solo performance that brings human movement into dialogue with a robot dog inside the inactive Trbovlje Chimney, the tallest chimney in Europe. Set within a monument of the region’s industrial past, the work explores labor, automation, and the changing relationship between humans and machines.

At its core, the piece examines the enduring fear that the dancer, the worker, and ultimately the human body might one day be replaced by technology. As the robot accompanies and challenges the performer, the boundaries between body and machine begin to blur, raising questions about control, connection, and what remains beyond automation.

It is a reflection on our search for connection in an age being shaped by artificial intelligence and constant digital connectivity. It asks whether technology is a partner, a mirror, a competitor, or an extension of ourselves, while exploring what remains fundamentally human: touch, vulnerability, presence, and the need to belong.

CODA imagines culture as a space where new relationships between technology, labor, nature, and community can be explored, questioned, and reimagined.
