Lecture Discover, Explore, Participate: Citizen Science
September 18 at 6 pm at Delavski dom Trbovlje.
The lecture presents citizen science as a form of research in which, alongside researchers, members of the public, local communities, associations, libraries, museums and other organisations can also participate. Participants will learn about the fundamental principles of citizen science, examples of good practice from Slovenia and abroad, and opportunities for involving the public in research projects. The lecture covers the steps involved in project planning, ethical considerations, data collection and use, and the importance of collaboration between research organisations and the community. Particular emphasis is placed on the Citizens’ Science Network and the citizenscience.si portal, which connect projects, organisations and individuals and provide information on events, training courses and opportunities for participation. The lecture demonstrates how citizen science can contribute to a more open, inclusive and socially responsible science, and how anyone can actively participate in the creation of new knowledge.
