**Protocol Without Environment** is a sound installation in which each visitor executes a physical protocol delivered through headphones — a concrete sequence of movements, instructed by a voice, performed in space.

Seven stations, seven different protocols. When a visitor puts on the headphones and presses the button, a delivers one movement instruction at a time. The visitor executes each step in sequence.

Those outside the headphones observe bodies in motion. Seven people executing seven different sequences simultaneously, unaware of each other’s instructions. The protocol is visible. The environment that produced it is not.

The work departs from Trbovlje, a former Slovenian mining centre, and from the body that continues to execute the logic of a system that no longer exists.
