Time is not merely a unit of measurement, but also a subjective experience constantly reshaped by nature. Tempus explores different rhythms of life through the bioacoustic world of insects, whose diverse life cycles become a metaphor for the multilayered perception of time.
Field recordings of insects unfold through spatial sound, while synaptic visualizations create a dynamic network of connections between natural processes and human perception. Through their presence and movement, visitors influence the development of the sonic structure, allowing the installation to continuously transform and establish a dialogue between technology, the ecosystem, and the individual. Tempus opens a space for reflection on the invisible rhythms of nature and on time as an experience co-created with the environment.
Bio
Simon Šerc and Martina Testen are internationally recognized audiovisual and intermedia artists. Their collaborative practice combines sound art, video, field recordings, and contemporary technologies to create immersive works that explore perception, time, and the relationship between humans and the natural environment. They are known for their distinctive approach to field recordings and for creating audiovisual worlds that merge artistic experimentation with technical precision. Their works have been presented at numerous international festivals and exhibitions and featured in renowned media outlets such as The Guardian, BBC, and The Wire. Their sound albums have been recognized among acclaimed international field recording releases, and they have received several international awards for their work in audiovisual art.
